We have 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, even a hundred-year-old patient. Now people are living to be a hundred years old and the neat thing about the teeth are that you can actually have youthful teeth, you can have the teeth of a twenty-year-old, and all the benefits that that youth provides you of oral health is phenomenal as far as just your overall health and well-being. We care about our patients. In our office, we're able to take care of most of your dental needs. We have doctors in the office that can do most different areas of Dentistry so we don't need to send you out to a specialist. I find that when patients come into our office for the first time they're always taking the experience in I think they're pleasantly surprised by the environment. I think they're pleasantly surprised by the staff and how friendly they can be and how interested we are to get to know them. We do a lot of different things here. A lot of patients say that they like to come here because we don't refer them out. We can do, you know, root canals, extractions, they come here; they're comfortable. They can just stay here they don't have to go meet a new dentist, have to go through new financials and things like that so people seem to really actually comment about that a lot. That they can't come here and get everything done so you need somebody that not only understands the aesthetic value of Dentistry but also understands how it relates to heart disease and everything else that can happen. If you don't take good care of your teeth losing your teeth is probably one of the worst things that I can think of that could happen so I feel like dr.stikle and the entire team here actually look at you from a holistic standpoint. You know I've been to a lot of practices. Technology in this office is actually very state of the art. We've got digital x-rays so you know the typical smell in a dental office doesn't exist here. If there's something they want you to see they have this little pencil camera that they can get back in there and show you the backside of your tooth or something like, “oh here's where this chip came off of here and here's why we're telling you we should do this and not in the other thing”. But they know who you are and I think that's important. I'm not a specialist, I’m a general dentist but have specialized knowledge in each of these different dental specialties and within the scope of my license I feel very comfortable providing an excellent service for root canal therapies, implant therapies, we provide sleep apnea, we do surgical extractions, we do things that allow the patient to have the benefit of it all being under one roof we also have the benefit of a board-certified oral surgeon that's within the building. So that's another tremendous resource that we have. Coming here is just a whole different experience, it feels like home. Yeah, it does feel I guess like a second home and I think because they will go to the nth degree to make you feel comfortable with the experience. I mean everything I think is also state-of-the-art. The kids can watch cartoons while they're getting their teeth cleaned and that's exciting. We just have everything that we can offer to make to give patients the best care and also make them very comfortable. Dentistry is for fun it's not just something that people don't dread it like they used to. And in modern dentistry, we can make it something that's very tolerable and very value building because of the way that dentistry is delivered now.

We are a team here. A lot of my staff have been with me for a long time. When we hire someone we like to think that we are going to find the right personality. They are the core group of the family you know, that's Westerville Dental Associates. They need to have the high technical skill, that they know how to do their job but at the same time that they realize that this is a patient oriented practice. That they're friendly, that they're here for the patient, that's the focus of our philosophy, is that you're here to help solve that patient's problem.

We are a general dentistry practice. I assume that if you're coming to our page, to our practice that you desire to keep your natural teeth for your lifetime. You want someone to help you, to give you some direction and that teeth might not be the most important thing for you always, but it is the most important thing for me as your dentist. So when you come here, realize that I'm going to be extremely passionate about your teeth and so I will give you my best advice. And one thing I do try to do, is I look at a patient. Every patient is an individual. What is their problem that they need fixed, what are they asking me to do, and then I also use my own experience and knowledge to say, what does this person know or not know about the condition of their teeth. And I'm assuming that they want their teeth for their lifetime. How can I help them grow so they do understand how to make these choices. You help people and you do an excellent job for them and I mean excellence as far as technical, excellence as far as your caring, and genuine, you're being genuine. Then everything else takes care of itself. Take care, don't worry about having 4,000 patients don't worry about taking in a certain amount of the money, just take care of them. When they call to take care of them. If they're hurting stop it from hurting, just help them. If they can't afford it, figure out how they can apply. Let me help you.

The benefit of investing in equipment is the end is to the benefit the patient. I believe that people seek certain things. They want to have the most comfort they can have. They want to be treated as quickly as they can possibly be treated, and people just desire to have comfort. The modern dental technology is just obviously going to address all those issues. We have some things that most dental practices don't. We spend a tremendous amount of our resources on continuing education. The skill of your doctor, and the skill of your hygienist, and skill the staff that is at least as equally if not more important. High quality. That's going to solve the patients problems in a way that's very comfortable, that's quick. That's a no-brainer

We have a pretty significant patient base in westerville and it was getting to be where it was very difficult to manage the traffic within the practice. This place has been here I believe for 25 years. I feel like the new practice is going to be where Westerville Dental Associates is going to have its home for the next 25 years. A very very high tech, you know comfortable, safe modern dental practice. You go anywhere in our community I want our patients to be proud of the fact that this is their practice. It's a convenient location and it's a visible location. We wanted to provide a facility that was modern that was safe that was convenient.

They come in they're going to meet a receptionist that's going to know who they are, and is going to welcome them to our practice, and they're going to meet hygienists that know that they’re a new patient and obviously is excited about being able to help the new person. You're going to see a dentist that's that's very very welcoming and that is glad that you've chosen us to be part of your life. They're getting the best no matter who they're going to. With myself, if I know a new patient is coming to the practice I will stop in to say hi. When you come in they're going to ask you to fill out paperwork. The hygienist will sit down with you and take a history on you, and will ask about your concerns. About any specific goals that you have. Will ask what your experiences have been in the past. Is there anything specific that we're supposed to keep checking on? At that point there's a diagnostic phase where they're going to look at the teeth, they're going to always do oral cancer screenings which is extremely important. I want to know who I'm working on, I mean, why are you here, how can I help? And then at that point any concerns that you have, that you would like to discuss with me or doctor Zody or other doctors. Then the doctor goes through the doctor diagnosis.

How to Properly Floss

Correct flossing technique. So you take your piece of floss, you put it on your middle fingers and then using your thumbs you wrap it around. Then you pinch an inch and then go straight between your teeth, whatever teeth you're on. Straight down and between that contact and then you wrap it in this C shape on either side to get a little farther down under that gum tissue and disrupt the bacteria. Then come out when you go to the next tooth you want to wipe that piece off or rinse it off to get the bacteria off. Then you get a new piece and you do the same exact thing. Make the C shape make the C shape.

How to Use Whitening Trays

Hi everyone I’m Morgan for Westerville Dental one of the hygienists. I am just going to talk to you guys about at-home whitening. A great option we have here at Westerville Dental is our Opalescence go packets. It comes with a top and the bottom tray you can get 10 packets for $50 here at Westerville Dental. You can come in and get it, or get it when you have your appointments. So I'm just going to show you how to do an upper tray for right now so you pop out this little green piece and there is a liner inside, and that's where your gel is. You want to leave it out for about a half an hour before you put the tray in or else it doesn't absorb as well. Also you want to do this after you brush, so that way your pores in your teeth are open and it accepts the whitening gel. So you're just going to pop it in, press, then you suck down. So these you can leave on for anywhere from like 20 minutes to a half an hour up to an hour. It's only 15% whitening so it shouldn't give you a lot of sensitivity, and then when you're done you'll just take the tray out, wipe off the excess And then you should be good to go!
